The Solar Bucket - Data This page contains the cleaned up data collected by the solar bucket. The data contains estimates for days when it was not possible to make readings and is subject to revision. At the time of writing, the sky state just relates to the prevailing cloud conditions, it has become apparent the rain and snow significantly reduce the energy captured. Data for March, April, May 2009 are included in the month-by-month graphics, but excluded from the summary as it is thought that the reflect the state of the battery rather than the performance of the solar panel. The results are summarised and discussed on the following pages: Summary The graph below shows the watt-hours captured daily by the solar bucket since data collection started. The extreme values are the 5th and 95th percentiles
Month-by-Month Data The month-by-month plots show the energy captured each day together with a summary of the cloud conditions. Since mid-September 2008 the cloud conditions have been determined using the data from the METAR report that was closest in time to midday. Most days, this METAR data reflected conditions during the whole day, however, when the weather is changeable, this may not be the case. Prior to the availability of METAR data, the sky state was determined from an RSS feed from MSN Weather. May 2009
